The Boy Book (2006)
E. Lockhart
Rating: 3.75/5
Still good. There is a third coming 2009, I think? It better be all Noel, all the time, or I am going to be very upset…
Here’s how things stand at the beginning of newly licensed driver Ruby Oliver’s junior year at Tate Prep:
* Kim: Not speaking. But far away in Tokyo.
* Nora: Speaking – sort of. Chatted with Ruby a couple of times this summer when they bumped into each other outside school – once shopping in the U District and once in the Elliot Bay Book Company. Bu she hasn’t called Ruby or anything.
* Noel: Doesn’t care what anyone thinks.
* Meghan: Doesn’t have any other friends.
* Dr. Z: Speaking.
* And Jackson. The big one. Not speaking.
But by winter break, a new job, an unlikely but stratifying friend combo, additional entries in the Boy Book, and many difficult decisions help Ruby see there is indeed life outside of the Tate Universe.
